Achieving Your Weight Loss Goals

A Comprehensive Approach to Weight Loss

Obesity is a national epidemic. It’s not uncommon to see adults who weigh 300+ pounds. Over time, a large amount of excess weight strains the body leading to health issues, including heart disease, diabetes, sleep apnea, joint pain and certain forms of cancer. Fortunately, it’s possible to lose the weight and improve your overall health in the process.

To be successful, you need a comprehensive, integrated approach. That’s why Edward-Elmhurst Health offers Endeavor Health Weight Management. This unique program takes a multidisciplinary approach to weight loss including nutrition, exercise, mental health, medication and surgery.

There’s a misconception that people should be able to figure out weight loss on their own. But it’s often not as simple as eating less or exercising more. There’s a complex genetic component as well as metabolic factors that need to be addressed to successfully shed weight – and keep it off long term.

At Endeavor Health, we realize that individuals have different weight loss challenges across their lifespan. We work with anyone above the age of 18 who is struggling to lose weight and keep it off. There is no age limit. We have great success with individuals in their 60s and 70s who finally have the time to commit to their weight loss journey. Our main requirement is that participants are ready and willing to partner with us to make changes to improve their overall health.

Endeavor Health helps patients achieve their goals by approaching weight loss as a lifestyle change. This process begins with a consultation with a medical provider and includes a complete evaluation of the patient’s health history, body composition, eating habits, medications, lifestyle, sleep habits and cultural factors.

The key to success is an individualized approach for every participant. Some may start out working with a nutritionist and exercise physiologist to make lifestyle changes. Others may go right to bariatric surgery. It’s a collaborative, integrated approach that is constantly reassessing what works and what’s not working to find the best treatment option.

The results speak for themselves. Since the program’s inception, we’ve seen success stories every day. These include:

  • Patients losing 200+ pounds
  • Patients able to get off insulin and stop blood pressure medication
  • Patients with decreased joint pain
  • Patients successfully undergoing orthopedic procedures that have improved their mobility and interaction with family/friends
  • Patients improving bone density through strength training
  • Patients getting pregnant after infertility issues
  • Patients who are able to discontinue using walkers or canes
